3 Things That Make Our Membership Community Unique AF

Hey fam,

Welcome back! Now I know you could have been anywhere else in the world, but you are HERE WITH ME! THANK YOU!!!

Now there are a lot of other community spaces out there for just about everything but none like gatHER & HEAL. Here are 3 reasons why our membership community is unique AF!

1. Who we serve is one of the most unique and dope parts about us. We are here for, and only for, self identified Black & Latinx womxn+.  Dassit!  This space is purposefully ours to learn, laugh, cry, journal, be angry, listen, meditate, move our bodies, and whatever else we want and DESIRE! We believe in showing up as your whole self so you can heal your whole self. And we want to be here to support and embrace ALL Of YOU!. 

2. Everything in the membership community is thoughtfully curated by mental health professionals. Yup, you read the right. But this is not therapy, just to be clear. We are trained in traditional Western therapeutic approaches to mental health but we take those approaches and adapt it to the diverse cultural needs of Black and Latinx womxn+. In some instances, we throw the whole thing out the window and just listen to what our bodies, minds, and spirits are asking for. That right there, you won’t find in those typical textbooks and I’m here for it!

3. The Internal Family Systems Model (IFS), founded by Richard C. Schwartz, Ph.D., is interwoven throughout our community engagement and practices. (I’ll share more about the IFS model in a later post) Known as the 8 C’s, they include: Connectedness, Calmness, Clarity, Confidence, Compassion, Courage, Calm and Creativity. The 8 C’s help identify what makes up all those parts inside of us that form our individual selves. As we begin to work towards our internal healing, the 8 C’s provide a framework as to how we can engage those parts of ourselves and take the steps necessary to work through our healing process, bringing us to a more fuller and authentic self.

We are here for your journey and always want to be transparent in what we bring to the table. Nothing more, nothing less!
